More data is not more intelligence.
There is a point where having more leads becomes counterproductive.
Too many possibilities dilute attention.
Most lists tell you who you could call. They do not tell you why this company may need what you offer, or whether it does at all.
Once the list gets large enough, the problem is no longer finding leads. It is deciding which few deserve your attention now.
The answer, in my view, is not another layer of filters.
It is to make the system do more of the investigation and the reasoning before a professional ever sees the lead.

Look across multiple pieces of business activity. Understand how they relate to one another. Ask what has changed, whether those changes reinforce each other, and whether together they create a reason to pay attention.
If I cannot explain why a lead may need what I offer, it probably does not belong near the top of my list.
Then reduce the universe.
Not from 50,000 leads to 20,000.
From 50,000 possibilities to a small number of situations worth investigating.
That does not replace judgment.
It lets human judgment start where it is most valuable.
The goal should not be to give a salesperson, lender, investor, or business-development professional more things to look at.
The goal should be to give them fewer, better-qualified situations, each with a clearer reason to pay attention.
Not a shorter list for the sake of being shorter.
A shorter list because the system has done a better job of identifying where there is evidence of a real need.
Fewer leads. Better reasons.
