Research & Evidence
Every material fact can be traced.
Each Signum Intelligence Brief is built from retained source evidence.
Material factual statements presented as established fact are verified against retained evidence and reassessed as of the Brief’s Research As-Of Date.
Signum distinguishes what the evidence establishes directly, what can be reproducibly derived from it, and what remains unknown.
Evidence first. Interpretation second. Unknowns stay unknown.
Evidence discipline
What we observe, what we derive, and what remains unknown.
Observed
Information stated directly in retained evidence.
Derived
A reproducible calculation or comparison based on observed facts.
Unknown
Information the available evidence does not establish. Unknowns are not filled with assumptions.
Retrospective validation
The method is tested against what happened next.
Signum does not evaluate its methodology only by examining the signals it produces. We also look at what subsequently happened in the real world.
Retrospective validation compares qualifying operating conditions with later observed outcomes to determine whether the patterns Signum is designed to identify are appearing before relevant commercial events.
Judd Buick Construction
What we observed
A new contract was approximately 2.9× the median size of the company’s other qualifying contracts, while no comparable equipment financing had been observed for approximately four years.
58 days later
Financing for a Caterpillar excavator was observed.
Interstate Civil Construction
What we observed
Current workload had risen to approximately $44.7 million, about 2.9× the company’s trailing historical median, with 13 concurrent contracts against a historical median of about five.
73 days later
Verified financing involving a 2024 John Deere 544P loader was observed.
St. Francis Electric
What we observed
Current workload had risen to approximately $97.7 million, about 2.26× the company’s trailing historical median, with 8 concurrent contracts against a historical norm of 5.
41 days later
Verified financing appeared for a directional-drilling production spread, including a directional drill, mixing system, bore truck and trailer.
Rege Construction
What we observed
A new $8.485 million contract represented approximately 73% of the company’s current observed workload and was about 4× larger than the largest previously completed job identified in its historical record.
29 days later
Verified financing appeared for a Caterpillar 305-07CR mini excavator.
Retrospective validation examines whether conditions identified by the Signum methodology were followed by relevant observed outcomes. It provides evidence about the methodology’s historical behavior and timing, not proof of causation or a guarantee that any individual opportunity will produce a transaction.
Signum identifies patterns and conditions that may indicate a developing commercial opportunity. It does not predict with certainty whether, when, or in what form an equipment acquisition or financing transaction will occur.
Traceability
Evidence is preserved.
Public information can change. Signum preserves the evidence supporting material factual claims as of the applicable Research As-Of Date.
This allows material factual statements to remain tied to the evidence available when the Brief was researched and reassessed, even when public information changes later.
Corrections
Corrections are not silently erased.
If Signum confirms a material factual error, the Brief is corrected or withdrawn. Later developments that materially affect reliability or relevance may result in revision, suspension of availability, or withdrawal. Material revisions are versioned and preserved rather than silently overwritten.
For purchased Briefs, verification support and customer remedies are governed by the applicable Purchase License and Signum Accuracy & Verification Commitment.
What an Intelligence Brief does — and does not — establish
A reason to look closer, not a promise of outcome.
An Intelligence Brief is an opportunity assessment, not a financing application or credit decision.
An Intelligence Brief does not establish that a company needs, is seeking, or has applied for financing; has made a final equipment-acquisition decision; is creditworthy or satisfies any lender’s underwriting criteria; or that outreach, an equipment purchase, a financing transaction, revenue, conversion, or any other commercial outcome will occur.
The commercial judgment is yours. Our job is to give you a better reason to look.
See the evidence in context.
Intelligence Briefs bring the reason for review, supporting evidence and company-specific analysis together in one place.
